Alec Baldwin recently opened up about the intense weight loss transformation he underwent for his role in the 2013 film Blue Jasmine. On the latest episode of The Baldwins, which aired on April 13, the 67-year-old actor revealed that the secret to losing 25 pounds was simple but challenging: he completely cut out pasta, potatoes, candy, and sugar from his diet.
“I didn’t have no pasta, no potatoes, no candy, no sugar, and I lost probably 25 pounds,” Baldwin recalled, adding, “You see me in the movie, and I look trim, comparatively speaking, but I did have the barbecue sauce in my hair.”
The episode also showcased Baldwin doing yoga at home with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin. While Hilaria encouraged Alec with his stretches, she admitted that exercise is not really his thing. Although he’s joined her for a few yoga classes and fitness sessions over the past 13 years, Baldwin doesn’t stick to a consistent workout routine.
During their yoga session, Hilaria noted that Alec “holds trauma” in his shoulders, a comment that prompted Baldwin to reflect on how the past year has affected both his mental and physical health. He openly addressed the toll that the charges he faced in connection with the October 2021 accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust had on him. Although those charges were dropped by a judge during a criminal trial in July 2024, Baldwin acknowledged the significant impact the ordeal had on him, both physically and emotionally.
“It really, really negatively affected my health, and I wasn’t like that,” Baldwin explained, noting that he experienced pain in various parts of his body and a noticeable drop in his energy levels. This was a stark contrast to the vitality he once felt.
Reflecting on his lifestyle, Baldwin shared that he had maintained a healthy routine until he turned 40. After that, work and family obligations took priority, and his fitness regimen suffered. He also mentioned that being married to someone as physically fit as Hilaria felt “bizarre” at times, especially as he began noticing a decline in his own strength and coordination.
Now, Baldwin’s primary goal is to focus on his health and wellness, emphasizing that he is determined to prioritize his well-being moving forward.
