Aaron Rodgers finally received a bit of positive news about his injured left wrist. Doctors told him he will not need surgery, which is a huge relief for the Pittsburgh Steelers. But even with that good news, no one knows yet if he will be able to play this Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Tom Pelissero shared that Rodgers is doing everything he can to be ready. He wants to play. He is pushing hard for it. But the final decision is not in his hands. Doctors still have to clear him, and his situation is still up in the air. The team is waiting to see how his wrist responds as the week goes on.

Rodgers hurt the wrist during last week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He tried to play through it for a while, but the pain was too much, so he sat out the entire second half. Mason Rudolph stepped in for him. At the time the Steelers were winning 10 to 6. With Rudolph playing the rest of the game, the Steelers pulled away and won 34 to 12.

Rudolph did well in Rodgers’ absence. He completed twelve out of sixteen passes for one hundred twenty seven yards and threw one touchdown without any mistakes. Before leaving, Rodgers was nine for fifteen with one hundred sixteen yards and a touchdown of his own. Neither quarterback threw an interception.

This Sunday’s game against the Bears is an important one. Both teams are in first place in their divisions. The Bears are seven and three at the top of the NFC North. The Steelers are six and four and leading the AFC North. Having Rodgers healthy would make a big difference for Pittsburgh in a matchup like this.

So far Rodgers has played every game this season. He has completed a little over sixty six percent of his passes. He has almost two thousand yards and nineteen touchdowns. He has thrown seven interceptions and has a strong passer rating of ninety seven point seven.

For now the team can only wait. Rodgers wants to play. The coaches want him available. But the doctors will decide if his wrist is healed enough for him to take the field.
