Melania Trump announced on Friday that she has started a production company called Muse Films. The news comes just before the release of an Amazon MGM Studios documentary about her. The film is titled Melania and is directed by Brett Ratner. It will be released in U.S. theatres on January 30, along with selected international locations. After that, it will stream only on Amazon Prime Video.

Melania shared the announcement on her social media and posted a short motion video of the company’s logo. Muse was also her Secret Service code name during Donald Trump’s first term.

Amazon bought the rights to the documentary earlier this year.

What is Melania Trump’s documentary about?

The film follows the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration, shown from Melania’s point of view. Amazon said the documentary will show her planning the inauguration, handling the transition back into the White House, and stepping into public life again with her family. It includes exclusive footage of important meetings, private conversations, and places the public has never seen before. The goal is to show Melania returning to one of the most powerful roles in the world.

Melania is an executive producer on the film along with Fernando Sulichin from New Element Media. Production started in December 2024.

A First Lady starting a production company is unusual but not completely new. Barack and Michelle Obama founded Higher Ground Productions after Barack’s presidency ended. Their first project, the Netflix documentary American Factory, won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature in 2022.
