MAPPA’s anime movie, Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc, is still doing really well in theaters worldwide, even though the pace has started to slow down. It’s strong enough to enter the top 15 highest-grossing anime films globally. The movie has already beaten Detective Conan: One Eyed Flashback and Bayside Shakedown 2 at the worldwide box office.
The film is closing in on $170 million globally. Considering it was made on a $4 million budget, that’s over forty times what it cost to make. The Chainsaw Man manga is popular in Japan, and the anime series, along with this movie, helped it gain fans all over the world.
In Japan, the movie made around $2.2 million during its ninth weekend, which was a huge jump of 69% from the previous weekend. So far, 5.9 million people have watched it in theaters there. The total Japanese box office collection has reached ¥8.77 billion, or about $57 million. This makes it the 76th highest-grossing film ever in Japan, surpassing The Eternal 0. It might soon move into the top 70.
Overseas, Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc has collected roughly $70.1 million. In North America, it earned $41.2 million. Adding everything together, the worldwide total is around $168.3 million. This makes it the 16th highest-grossing anime film ever and puts it on the edge of cracking the top 15 list.
