If you’ve ever wondered how many ways there are to take someone out, Sisu: Road to Revenge will give you a few more to think about. This movie is pure adrenaline from start to finish. 2025 has been a good year for action fans, but this film might just take the crown. It’s not only non-stop action, but it also perfectly wraps up the protagonist’s story—for now, at least.
The plot is simple, but it hits on something everyone can relate to in some way. Aatami Korpi, played by Jorma Tommila, travels through Soviet-occupied Finland after World War 2 with one goal: to rebuild his home using the logs from the house he once had. On his way, he goes to extreme lengths, taking on anyone in his path to carry the logs back. On the surface, it’s pure revenge, but underneath, it’s a story about belonging. Aatami has no family, no home, nothing. All he has are the pieces of his past. Everyone, at some level, fights to find a place to belong, and the movie turns that struggle into an epic, bloody spectacle.
Now, the action sequences are where this film truly shines. Every fight scene is unpredictable, creative, and brutal. You never know how Aatami will take someone down next. He can turn almost anything into a weapon, and the way these kills are staged is jaw-dropping. If mass murder were an art form, Aatami would be Picasso. Even tanks and fighter aircraft are used in ways you wouldn’t expect. It’s violent, yes, but also thrilling to watch.
The acting is another level. Jorma Tommila carries the movie with almost no dialogue, but his expressions say everything. Every flinch, every look, tells you what he’s thinking. Making the audience connect with a silent character is hard, but he pulls it off perfectly. Even the villain, Igor Draganov, played by Stephen Lang, is terrifying. He speaks little, but his calm, composed evil makes you feel uneasy. The tension between these two characters is masterfully done.
Adding to this, Aatami’s dog, Sulo, provides perfect support in moments where words or expressions alone might fall short. The dog’s reactions fill in gaps, making the story feel complete and adding emotional depth to the chaos.
So, is Sisu: Road to Revenge the best action movie of 2025? In my opinion, yes. It’s not just the action that makes it great. It’s the combination of emotional depth, creativity in fights, and incredible acting. You can understand Aatami’s motivations, relate to his struggle, and still be on the edge of your seat watching him unleash chaos.
If you’re even slightly skeptical about watching this movie, don’t be. Grab your tickets. This is a film that action fans, and really anyone who loves a good story with thrilling sequences, shouldn’t miss.
