Mexican equities closed higher on Friday. The S&P/BMV IPC rose 1.35%, boosted by gains in industrials, consumer goods, and consumer staples sectors.
Top performers included Kimberly-Clark De Mexico, up 5.02% to 38.73, Bolsa Mexicana De Valores, up 4.22% to 37.51, and Arca Continental, rising 3.32% to 186.79.
The biggest decliners were Gentera, down 2.58% to 42.71, Grupo Financiero Inbursa, down 1.03% to 43.20, and Grupo Financiero Banorte, down 0.94% to 174.50. Overall, 169 stocks rose, 65 fell, and 16 ended unchanged.
In commodities, gold futures for February delivery rose 1.27% to $4,255.80 per troy ounce. Crude oil prices fell, with January WTI at $58.48 per barrel and February Brent at $62.32 per barrel.
On the currency front, the Mexican peso strengthened. USD/MXN fell 0.28% to 18.30, and EUR/MXN declined 0.24% to 21.22. The US Dollar Index futures dropped slightly to 99.43.
