The long awaited romance drama Perfect Crown starring IU and Byeon Woo Seok has finally shared its release plans. The series will air worldwide on Disney Plus. The announcement was made during the Disney Originals event in Hong Kong. Along with the platform reveal fans also got their first official look at the lead characters.
The new stills show IU as Sung Hee Joo and Byeon Woo Seok as Grand Prince Yi Wan. This is their first major pairing after their brief couple moment in Moon Lovers Scarlet Heart Ryeo where Byeon Woo Seok made a cameo. A lot has changed since then. Byeon Woo Seok became massively popular after Lovely Runner and is now landing big dramas thanks to his breakout performance.
In Perfect Crown also known earlier as Wife of 21st Century Prince IU plays a smart beautiful and confident chaebol heiress. She seems to have everything but she lives in an alternate version of modern Korea that follows a constitutional monarchy. That means she actually holds very little real power. Byeon Woo Seok plays a neglected Grand Prince who despite being royal has almost no influence. He deeply wants the power he lacks.
The two characters end up getting into a contractual marriage. They start off as total opposites with different goals but slowly begin to connect. Their fake relationship turns into real feelings. This sets the stage for a romance filled with longing tension and emotional moments.
The newly released stills show IU as a stylish strong woman and Byeon Woo Seok as a striking prince. They must work together for their own benefit but love starts growing between them.
