Christian von Koenigsegg has always been seen as the genius who built one of the world’s most elite hypercar brands from scratch. But now he’s at the center of an internet drama after supercar collector Steve Hamilton publicly called him out, turning a private disagreement into a very loud and very messy feud.
Everything blew up when Hamilton posted a photoshopped picture of Koenigsegg as Marvel’s Thanos and demanded that the company deliver his car. He claimed that tons of other Koenigsegg owners privately complain about delays and problems too.
Christian didn’t stay quiet. He replied with a video explaining the real timeline. According to him, Hamilton didn’t send the second payment until early 2025 and didn’t finish choosing the car’s final specs until May. Once the specs were set, Koenigsegg told his dealer the car would be ready to ship at the end of November. He said the car is already in final testing and polishing, so he has no idea what Hamilton is talking about.
Christian also pointed out that Hamilton’s older Regera came with its own issues because it was bought second-hand, hadn’t been serviced in three years, and was missing major updates. His team even traveled to fix the car for free. After that, Hamilton ordered a brand-new Jesko.
Hamilton pushed back, saying his Regera had been sitting at the dealer for two months. Christian responded that the car actually shipped a few days earlier and added that Hamilton could have gone to any of the many Koenigsegg dealers in the U.S. if he wanted faster service.
Koenigsegg admitted that these extreme hypercars sometimes have problems, especially early in production, but said they always upgrade and fix everything so the early owners end up with cars as good as the later ones. He said many Regera owners drive their cars a lot without any trouble.
His video ended with him walking around Hamilton’s orange Jesko, pointing out that it’s a beautiful custom spec. But he also noted that the car is “not fully paid for,” which made people wonder whether Hamilton actually sent everything he owed.
Hamilton then posted his own video. He said he thinks the Koenigsegg team is full of good people, but he believes the cars themselves just aren’t built well. He claimed the Regera was a complete mess and said that many well-known owners feel the same way but don’t say it publicly. He added that he hasn’t sent the final payment yet because it’s not due until the car is ready to ship, and he’s prepared to pay the moment Koenigsegg asks for it.
He ended by saying he wants positivity, but also accountability. His website still shows two new Koenigseggs on order: the Jesko and a blue Gemera. Meanwhile, his red Regera is now moved out of his active fleet.
Fans of both men have already taken sides. What started as a late car delivery has become a full-blown online spectacle. Whether they fix things or stay enemies, one thing is clear: even the world’s most exclusive hypercar brands can’t escape social media drama.
