After waiting for almost two years, fans of Record of Ragnarok finally have good news. The much-awaited third season now has an official release date.

The new season of the popular anime, which is based on the manga by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui, will premiere on Netflix worldwide on December 10, 2025. The story continues its thrilling theme of gods battling against famous figures from human history in a fierce tournament to decide the fate of humanity.

Is Record of Ragnarok season 3’s release date confirmed?

Netflix confirmed the release date along with a brand-new trailer that gives fans a glimpse of what’s coming. The trailer teases intense battles, emotional moments, and a few surprises. It also reveals the new opening theme song, Dead or Alive, performed by the Japanese rock band GLAY.

Just like the earlier seasons, Record of Ragnarok season 3 will feature some major historical and mythological characters. This time, fans will see Nikola Tesla, King Leonidas, Hades, Beelzebub, and Nostradamus take the spotlight. Each of them will step into the arena for another round of epic one-on-one fights.

The tournament follows a simple but brutal rule, gods versus humans in a 13-round death match. The first side to win seven battles earns the right to rule the world for 1,000 years. The stakes couldn’t be higher, and every fight feels like the end of the world.

The third season was officially announced back in March. Writer Shinya Umemura shared his excitement, thanking fans for their continued love and support. He said he was eager to see how Nikola Tesla’s big move from the manga would look in animation. Co-creator Takumi Fukui also expressed his gratitude, saying that the team had worked hard to bring the explosive energy of the manga to life once again. He promised returning characters, new rivalries, and battles even more intense than before.

Takumi Fukui added: “Much time has passed since the explosive ending to the second season. Thanks to the support of our fans, the third season is finally here!

“How will that fiery battle we depicted in the comic be recreated? How will certain moves and scenes come to life on screen? Plus, familiar characters will cross paths again. I can’t wait for everyone to see the continuation of the battle between gods and humanity!”

Season 3 is expected to pick up right after the dramatic ending of season 2, with the story diving deeper into the war between gods and humanity. With breathtaking fight scenes, emotional storytelling, and top-tier animation, Record of Ragnarok season 3 is set to make a powerful comeback this December. Fans can already feel the excitement building as the countdown to the ultimate showdown begins.

What is the Record of Ragnarok anime about?

Record of Ragnarok is an anime about a huge fighting tournament between gods and humans.

The story brings all the gods from all religions and mythologies, such as Zeus, Shiva, and many others, to make a decision about whether humanity should continue to live on or be destroyed forever.  Most of them believe that humans are hopeless and there is no point in trying to save them.
But then a gutsy Valkyrie, Brunhilde, steps in and says humans deserve one last chance. She suggests a tournament called “Ragnarok,” where 13 gods fight against 13 of the greatest humans ever. Whichever side wins seven fights first determines the future, if humans win, they survive; if the gods win, humanity is gone for good.
Each fight is intense and emotional. You see famous people from history, like Adam from the Bible, Jack the Ripper, Nikola Tesla, and more, going up against powerful gods.  They don’t just fight with strength but also with clever strategies, emotions, and deep reasons for wanting to win.  So, in very simple terms, it’s a wild anime about gods and humans fighting to decide whether or not humanity deserves to exist, full of action, drama, and over-the-top fights.
