In April 2025, Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as ALS. His wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, has been by his side ever since, showing strong emotional support for him and their two daughters. The diagnosis came shortly after Rebecca withdrew her divorce petition, which she had filed seven years earlier. The couple had planned to stay friends and co-parent, but once Eric’s condition started getting worse, Rebecca decided to stay with him and help him through his health battle.
Rebecca Gayheart is an American actress and former model who spent over twenty years with Eric Dane. She started modeling as a teenager in the 1980s and rose to fame in the 1990s as “the Noxzema Girl” after appearing in commercials for the skincare brand. She later became known for her roles in Scream 2 (1997), Urban Legend (1998), and the dark comedy Jawbreaker (1999). In 2019, she made a return to the big screen in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She also performed on Broadway in a 2005 production of Steel Magnolias.
Rebecca and Eric share two daughters together. She once filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences,” but later decided to stay married, likely because of Eric’s illness.
Their love story began in 2003 in the simplest way possible. Eric asked Rebecca if she wanted to go out with him, and she said yes. Things moved quickly after that. Within ten months, they were married. The couple tied the knot in Las Vegas in October 2004. Years later, Rebecca shared a sweet old photo from 2003 on Instagram, calling Eric her “Monday man crush.”
The couple’s first daughter, Billie Beatrice Dane, was born in March 2010. She’s now a model and dancer. Their younger daughter, Georgia Geraldine Dane, was born in December 2011 and is now into sports. Both girls tend to stay away from public attention.
Even though life threw them a tough challenge with Eric’s ALS diagnosis, Rebecca’s choice to stand by him has shown how deep their bond really is. Their story has turned from a simple romance into one of strength, loyalty and quiet love through hard times.
