Task Episode 4, which premiered on September 28, 2025 (ET), delivered one of the most intense hours of the season so far. Titled All Roads, the episode plunged deep into betrayal, shifting loyalties, and the brutal cost of corruption. Written by Brad Ingelsby and directed by Salli Richardson-Whitfield, it continues to follow FBI Agent Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) as he gets dangerously close to uncovering the truth behind a network of local robberies connected to the Dark Hearts motorcycle gang.
The story opens with an elaborate FBI sting operation designed to lure Cliff (Raul Castillo) into a trap using Ray (Patrick Patrikios), who was arrested in the previous episode. But as Tom’s suspicions about a leak within his own task force grow, everything falls apart in spectacular fashion. Cliff never shows up to the meeting point at Bailey Park. Instead, the Bureau swarms a random couple’s car — a humiliating mistake that exposes how compromised their mission really is. Moments later, it’s revealed that Cliff had been feeding information to the Dark Hearts, not the FBI. His decision costs him his life when Perry (Jamie McShane) and Jayson (Sam Keeley) ambush and kill him off-screen, a chilling reminder that the gang is always one step ahead.
Inside the Dark Hearts, tensions are just as high. Perry confronts Jayson after learning the truth about Billy Prendergrast’s death, furious that Jayson lied about what really happened. His anger puts both men in danger when Vincent Hawkes (Brian Goodman), the gang’s national leader, orders Perry to eliminate Jayson by Friday. At the same time, Perry begins to suspect Eryn (Margarita Levieva), questioning her about her relationship with Billy and whether she’s secretly working against them.
Meanwhile, Robbie (Tom Pelphrey) tries to escape with Sam and Cliff before everything unravels. Their plan to cross into Canada goes sideways after a violent brawl at a truck stop, where a witness captures Sam’s photo, putting the FBI back on their trail. Robbie’s daughter, Maeve (Emilia Jones), finally confronts him, threatening to expose him unless he hands Sam over. Her anger and disappointment add a layer of emotional weight, showing how far Robbie’s criminal choices have dragged his family down.
Eryn’s storyline also takes a darker turn. Her past affair with Billy surfaces, and while she manages to convince Perry she had no role in Billy’s murder, her web of lies is thinning fast. Her growing fear of Jayson suggests she’s reaching a breaking point, possibly setting up her defection or betrayal in future episodes.
The episode closes on a devastating note. Cliff’s loyalty costs him his life when Jayson suffocates him after he refuses to turn on Robbie. As Perry later discovers an old photograph of Billy holding the same gun found in Cliff’s car beside Maeve, the pieces of the puzzle start connecting in dangerous ways. With a mole still operating inside the FBI and the Dark Hearts tightening their grip, the episode ends with a grim truth — no one is safe.
Task Episode 4 delivers on every front — betrayal, chaos, and tragedy — leaving the audience on edge and wondering who will survive as the lines between good and evil blur even further.
