Lee Min Ho has officially chosen his next big project — a mystery thriller titled The Assassin(s). The upcoming period film, directed by Hur Jin Ho, will also star acclaimed actors Yoo Hae Jin and Park Hae Il alongside the Hallyu superstar.
Set in 1945, the movie centers around a shocking sniper incident in South Korea that left the nation shaken. According to Ilgan Sports, filming began back in August, and the cast lineup — including Lee Min Ho, Yoo Hae Jin, and Park Hae Il — was confirmed on October 16.
In The Assassin(s), Lee Min Ho will play a young and passionate rookie reporter working in the social affairs department of a newspaper. His character becomes an eyewitness to a chilling event that changes his life and pushes him to uncover the truth behind it. His agency shared that the role will highlight “a deeper and more refined side” of his acting, asking fans to support him as he once again takes on a challenging and emotional role.
Yoo Hae Jin will portray a senior inspector at the Jungbu Police Station who also witnessed the mysterious incident, while Park Hae Il will play the newspaper’s principled editor — and Lee Min Ho’s mentor — who joins him in seeking answers about what really happened on August 15, 1945.
The film marks an important comeback for Lee Min Ho following mixed reviews for Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy and When the Stars Gossip, both released in 2025. Fans and critics alike are eager to see how he will use The Assassin(s) to re-establish his strong presence in Korean cinema.
