Choi Min Shik and Han So Hee are officially joining hands for the Korean remake of the beloved Hollywood film The Intern. After months of speculation, the casting has now been confirmed, and production is already underway. The original movie, starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway, was a huge global hit and resonated strongly with Korean audiences, making it a natural choice for a remake.

According to updates shared on the Korean Film Council’s website, the project is currently in its pre-shoot stage, with filming expected to begin as early as next month. Han So Hee will step into the role of Jules Ostin, originally played by Anne Hathaway, while veteran actor Choi Min Shik will play Ben Whittaker, the character made iconic by Robert De Niro.

For those unfamiliar with the story, The Intern follows Jules Ostin, a young and talented CEO who builds a fashion company from the ground up. Within just a year, her label explodes in popularity, leaving her struggling to keep balance between her rapidly growing career and her personal life. Enter Ben Whittaker, a 70-year-old widower who applies for an internship program designed for seniors. With decades of wisdom and life experience, he quietly becomes a source of stability, support, and even friendship for Jules.

Ben not only helps her navigate her work struggles but also gives her perspective during a rough patch in her marriage. He becomes her confidant, her driver, and an almost fatherly figure who helps clear both her physical and emotional clutter. Their relationship is heartwarming and grounded, proving that friendships can bloom across generations.

With Choi Min Shik’s depth as an actor and Han So Hee’s natural screen presence, expectations are already high. Fans are curious to see how the Korean remake will add cultural nuances while keeping the charm of the original intact. If done right, this pairing could deliver a remake that feels both familiar and refreshingly new.
