K-dramas are gaining more fans around the world, and the Seoul International Drama Awards are keeping up with the global attention. On August 6, the awards committee announced the nominees for this year’s International Competition Category. A total of 24 productions and 32 individuals made the final list. They had received 276 submissions from 50 countries and regions, so competition was tough.

Some of the nominees include big names in directing. Hirokazu Koreeda was nominated for Asura, Bille August for The Count of Montecristo, Kim Won Seok for When Life Gives You Tangerines, Philip Barantini for Adolescence, and Lee Jin Ah for To My Lonely Sister. For screenwriting, Dan Erickson was nominated for Severance Season 2, Stephen Graham for Adolescence, Soo Hugh for Pachinko 2, and Lim Sang Choon for When Life Gives You Tangerines.

In acting categories, Cate Blanchett is up for Best Actress for Squid Game 3, alongside Kim Da Mi for Nine Puzzles, Kim Jung Young for O’PENing: My Trouble-Maker Mom, and Kim Min Ha for Pachinko 2. Best Actor nominees include Adam Scott for Severance Season 2 and Owen Cooper for Adolescence.

For Best Miniseries, the nominees are Adolescence, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Asura, Pachinko 2, and Hyper Knife. Best TV Movie nominees include To My Lonely Sister, O’PENing: Our Beautiful Summer, O’PENing: The Son, O’PENing: Unbalanced Love, Smetana, and Champagne – Peppino di Capri. Best Series includes For Eagle Brothers, The Nightfall, and Emerald Hill – The Little Nyonya Story.

The winners will be announced in September, and fans can watch the ceremony broadcast on October 2 at 5:50 PM KST on SBS and on the Seoul International Drama Awards’ official YouTube channel.
