Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic ‘Prince of Darkness’ and Black Sabbath frontman, passed away in July 2025, shortly after his farewell performance at Birmingham’s Back To The Beginning concert. As fans around the world mourned, controversy arose when Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters made blunt remarks about Ozzy, dismissing his legacy and mocking his music and stage antics.
On The Independent Ink podcast, Waters referred to Ozzy’s decades-long career as “idiocy and nonsense” and expressed no interest in Black Sabbath. He even mimicked Ozzy’s iconic tongue-out pose, ridiculing his theatrics, and commented on the infamous stage antics, saying, “I couldn’t care less,” even after being corrected that Ozzy had bitten a bat, not a chicken. Waters reacted, “Oh my god, that’s even worse.”
Ozzy’s family, however, strongly disagreed. His youngest son, Jack Osbourne, fired back on Instagram, calling Waters “pathetic and out of touch” and accusing him of seeking attention by spreading lies. Jack wrote:
“Hey, Roger Waters – f–k you. How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bulls–t in the press. My father always thought you were a c–t – thanks for proving him right.”
Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy as a trailblazer of heavy metal remains untarnished. From his days with Black Sabbath to solo hits like Crazy Train and Mr. Crowley, he forever changed the landscape of rock music, earning his place as one of the genre’s most influential figures.
