Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show was suspended indefinitely by ABC after he made controversial comments about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Kirk was shot and killed last week at Utah Valley University. In his show, Kimmel criticized the political response and made jokes about former President Trump’s reaction to the tragedy.

ABC bosses decided to pull the show, and Nexstar Media Group, which owns ABC affiliates, also said it would stop airing Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Kimmel was asked to apologize to Kirk’s family and make a donation to them and Turning Point USA.

Many celebrities and public figures have spoken out against the suspension. Ben Stiller tweeted simply, “This isn’t right.” Jimmy Fallon also expressed support, calling Kimmel a “decent, funny and loving guy” and saying he hopes the show returns.
