The Indianapolis Colts are off to their best start in over a decade. They improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2009 after a thrilling 29-28 win over the Denver Broncos. Spencer Shrader’s 45-yard field goal on the final play sealed the victory, while quarterback Daniel Jones passed for over 315 yards and recorded two total touchdowns. Running back Jonathan Taylor added 215 total scrimmage yards, helping the Colts dominate early in the season.

While the players celebrated, one member of the team is enjoying himself more than anyone else: punter Rigoberto Sanchez. Through two games, the Colts have yet to punt once. Their first 10 possessions of the season all resulted in points, making them the first team in NFL history to start a season with 10 consecutive scoring drives. The streak finally ended with a turnover on downs against Denver, but Sanchez has still not needed to put his foot through the ball.

According to Colts PR, no team has ever gone without a punt in their first two games. Sanchez, who entered the league in 2017, has only had one previous game without a punt, the 2020 season opener. Now, back-to-back games without punting is an unprecedented luxury in the Super Bowl era.

While the season is young and it’s unclear when Sanchez will finally see action, he’s currently enjoying the easiest start to a season of his career. For now, the Colts’ historic scoring streak has allowed their punter to sit back and relax while the offense carries the team to victories.
