Chris Hemsworth has confirmed that he will return as Tyler Rake in Extraction 3, though fans may need to wait a little longer before the film officially goes into production. In a recent conversation with Collider, Hemsworth admitted that while he is certain another installment will be made, the creative process is taking its time. He revealed that both he and the creative team are exploring new directions and storylines for the character, with the intention of delivering something fresh to audiences.

The actor expressed that he is feeling “restless” about getting back into the role, as the first two films were both major successes. Extraction and Extraction 2 earned strong reviews from critics and viewers, holding a solid 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Their blend of high-octane action and emotional storytelling helped cement the franchise as one of Netflix’s most popular originals.

Interestingly, reports suggest that the franchise was originally conceived with Dwayne Johnson in mind as the lead. However, when Johnson committed to other projects, Hemsworth stepped into the role, making Tyler Rake one of his most celebrated non-Marvel characters.

For now, Hemsworth is busy reprising his iconic role as Thor in Avengers: Doomsday, which is set for release in December 2026. The film will mark his first appearance as the God of Thunder since Thor: Love and Thunder in 2022, and it will reunite him with Robert Downey Jr. for the first time in six years. The star-studded cast also includes Tom Hiddleston, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, and others.

While Marvel duties are keeping Hemsworth occupied at the moment, fans of Extraction can rest assured that a third chapter is on the horizon. Details regarding its plot, cast, and filming timeline are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
