The 2025 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards are all set to make a grand return, celebrating excellence in Asian film, TV, and streaming content. The nominees across 14 categories were recently announced, shining a spotlight on numerous South Korean stars and productions, according to Herald POP on July 22. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place from August 22 to 25 at the Busan Cinema Center in Busan, South Korea.
In the acting categories, Park Bo Gum earned a nomination for Best Lead Actor for his performance in GOOD BOY (JTBC), while Ju Ji Hoon was recognized for The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call (Netflix). On the female side, Park Bo Young is up for Best Lead Actress for Our Unwritten Seoul (tvN), IU for When Life Gives You Tangerines (Netflix), and Park Eun Bin for Hyper Knife (Disney+).
Creative achievements are also highlighted, with When Life Gives You Tangerines (Netflix) and Our Unwritten Seoul (tvN) competing for Best Creative. For Best OTT Original, Nine Puzzles (Disney+), Study Group (TVING), and Family Matters (Coupang Play) are in the running.
Supporting roles received recognition as well: Oh Jung Se (GOOD BOY) and Choi Dae Hoon (When Life Gives You Tangerines) for Best Supporting Actor, and Jang Young Nam (Our Unwritten Seoul) and Yeom Hye Ran (When Life Gives You Tangerines) for Best Supporting Actress. Rising stars are also highlighted, with Kang You Seok (Resident Playbook) and Choo Young Woo (The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call) nominated for Best Newcomer Actor (Male), and Chung Su Bin (Friendly Rivalry) and Lee Su Hyun (Family Matters) up for Best Newcomer Actor (Female).
Directorial and writing talents are acknowledged too, with Sim Nayeon (GOOD BOY) and Kim Won Seok (When Life Gives You Tangerines) nominated for Best Director, while Best Writer nods go to Kang Full (Light Shop), Lee Kang (Our Unwritten Seoul), and Im Sang Chun (When Life Gives You Tangerines).
Technical and creative categories feature nominations for Best Visual Effects for Heavenly Ever After (JTBC) and Light Shop (Disney+), and Best Original Song including TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s When the Day Comes (Resident Playbook), 10CM’s Hush of Sunset (Our Unwritten Seoul), and Lim Young Woong’s Heavenly Ever After (Heavenly Ever After).
Finally, the Best Reality & Variety category highlights popular programs such as Kian’s Bizarre B&B (Netflix), SNL Korea Season 7 (Coupang Play), and World of Street Woman Fighter Season 3 (TVING), showcasing the diversity and creativity thriving across Asia’s entertainment landscape.
The 2025 edition promises to celebrate talent across both traditional TV and modern OTT platforms, emphasizing how South Korean content continues to shine on the global stage.
