Caitlyn Jenner’s appearance at the wedding followed the sudden and tragic death of Sophia Hutchins, who died on July 2 in an ATV accident. According to Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Hutchins may have been speeding when her vehicle went off the trail and plunged roughly 350 feet down a ravine. The devastating incident left Caitlyn visibly shaken. Just a day later, on July 3, she was seen in Malibu on a coffee run, where she briefly acknowledged to reporters that she was going through “tough times” and was not ready to speak publicly about the loss. Caitlyn and Sophia had known each other since 2015, having met through their hairstylists, and remained close friends for nearly a decade.
Despite their past distance, Brody recently shared that he and Caitlyn have reached a better understanding. In a moment of emotional vulnerability during a January episode of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, Brody spoke about receiving a sincere apology from Caitlyn for not being more present during his rise to fame alongside the Kardashians.
