Netflix has officially unveiled the first teaser for Troll 2, igniting excitement among fans of the 2022 Norwegian monster hit. Directed once again by Roar Uthaug, the sequel returns to the breathtaking—and deadly—landscapes of Norway, where ancient myths collide with modern-day chaos. The teaser opens with a series of haunting visuals: mountains quivering, symbols carved into stone, ruins hidden deep in the wilderness, and the looming shadows of massive trolls moving through a veil of mist. The scale immediately feels larger, darker, and more cinematic.
Returning to the chaos are familiar faces—Nora (played by Ine Marie Wilmann), Andreas (Kim Falck), and Captain Kris (Mads Sjøgård Pettersen). However, this time around, their journeys appear far more fragmented, suggesting that the events of the first film have left lasting scars. As the military mobilizes and ancient signs resurface, it’s clear that a new threat is awakening—one that could dwarf anything they’ve encountered before. The sequel promises deeper dives into Norse mythology and more thrilling action sequences, along with emotionally layered arcs for its returning leads.
Director Roar Uthaug expressed pride in the first film’s worldwide impact, calling the sequel a “troll-sized spectacle” with expanded scope and heart. Ine Marie Wilmann echoed the sentiment, reflecting on the global love the original received and the pressure and excitement of stepping back into Nora’s boots. Their words signal a creative team ready to build something grander, more dangerous, and more emotionally resonant than before.
The biggest intrigue, however, comes in the form of a new character: Marion, played by Sara Khorami. Her role is being kept tightly under wraps, but brief flashes in the teaser suggest she may hold a key to understanding—or defeating—the new trolls. Uthaug teased that not only will there be more than one troll this time, but they’ll be “even more destructive” than the first. With new creatures and surprising alliances, Troll 2 is shaping up to be more than just a sequel—it’s an expansion of a mythos that clearly struck a global chord.
Set to premiere globally on December 1, Troll 2 carries the weight of its predecessor’s record-breaking 103 million views. With high expectations and a promise of deeper lore, more intense action, and a few unexpected twists, the sequel aims to deliver a cinematic punch that lives up to its colossal title.
