U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Tuesday that President Donald Trump will be the one to decide whether to extend the current trade truce between the U.S. and China.

This came after two days of meetings in Stockholm between U.S. and Chinese officials. The goal was to ease tensions over tariffs between the two biggest economies in the world.

Officials shared that they are thinking about a 90-day extension of the current pause in the trade fight. That means both sides may hold off on new tariffs for three more months while talks continue.

Jamieson Greer, the U.S. Trade Representative, said teams from both countries would probably meet again in about 90 days.

Greer added, “We had some good meetings here. We’ll go back and tell President Trump how it went. But in the end, he will decide if the trade pause should continue.”
