Sophie Cunningham has become one of the most talked-about players in the WNBA this season, and not just for her basketball skills. Playing her first year with the Indiana Fever, Cunningham has quickly made a name for herself with her tough, fearless style on the court.

That grit especially stood out during a series of games where she stood up for rookie sensation Caitlin Clark, responding physically to rough play from opponents. Her boldness earned her a new nickname: “The Enforcer,” and yes, it sounds like something straight out of a wrestling ring.

Fittingly enough, pro wrestling has come calling.

Jeanie Buss, the owner of the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and co-owner of Women of Wrestling (WOW), an all-female wrestling league, has publicly invited Cunningham to join the roster.

“We would love to have (Cunningham) join us at WOW,” Buss wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “She is talented, dedicated, and a fierce competitor!!”

At 28, it’s unlikely Cunningham will walk away from basketball, the sport she’s played her entire life. But the offer has caught fans’ attention and sparked some fun speculation online.

With her bold, outspoken personality and strong social media presence, fans wouldn’t be surprised if Cunningham addresses the offer soon, maybe even with a TikTok reveal. Whether she accepts the wrestling gig or not, one thing’s for sure: Sophie Cunningham knows how to stay in the spotlight.
