Actress Song Ha Yoon, best known for her role in Marry My Husband, has officially broken her silence more than a year after being accused of school bullying. The allegations, which first surfaced in April 2024, halted her rising career and led to months of public speculation. On July 2, Song’s legal team at Jieum Law Firm released a detailed statement outlining the steps she has taken to clear her name, including the filing of a criminal complaint against her accuser.

Rather than responding immediately when the claims were first made, Song chose to remain quiet, focusing instead on gathering evidence through proper legal channels. Her legal team now says this decision was deliberate, allowing them to build a case based on verifiable documentation and eyewitness accounts.

The complaint targets a woman referred to as Ms. Oh, the individual who initially accused Song of physical violence during their third year of middle school. Song is pursuing charges of defamation under Korea’s Information and Communications Network Act, as well as obstruction of business. Despite attempts to begin an investigation, police efforts stalled after it was revealed that Ms. Oh currently lives in the United States. Though she claimed American citizenship, the Korean Ministry of Justice confirmed she still holds Korean nationality. After she failed to respond to multiple police summons, Korean authorities issued a formal ‘wanted notification’ in May 2025. She is now listed in the national police database and will face questioning if she returns to South Korea.

Over the past year, Song and her legal team have quietly gathered supporting material to disprove the allegations. This includes school records, notarized statements, and testimonies from former classmates and teachers. One individual named as a witness by Ms. Oh has stated they never saw Song engage in any bullying and had even clarified this to Ms. Oh directly—yet their name still appeared in media coverage as a supporting voice. Song also contacted her former homeroom teacher, who said they had no memory of any violent incident or school transfer related to disciplinary issues.

As the investigation continues, Song’s team is weighing additional legal action in the U.S., where Ms. Oh resides. They are also reviewing possible claims against others who spread or exaggerated the original accusations online.

The scandal first broke when an anonymous post accused a student identified only as “S” of physically assaulting a classmate back in 2004. The post soon gained traction, with netizens speculating that “S” referred to Song Ha Yoon. At the time, she was riding high from her performance as the villainous Jung Soo Min in Marry My Husband. Her agency at the time, KINGKONG by STARSHIP, acknowledged her past school transfer, a statement that fueled further rumors and backlash.

As a result of the controversy, Song stepped back from public life. She halted all appearances and projects, aside from her role in the pre-filmed drama A History of Losers. Now, with legal proceedings underway and fresh evidence in hand, Song appears ready to reclaim her voice and challenge the narrative that has followed her for over a year.
