The Los Angeles Lakers made another roster move as they continue to build depth for the upcoming season. On Wednesday, the team officially re-signed 7-foot center Christian Koloko to a two-way contract, giving him another shot to contribute alongside newly-acquired big man DeAndre Ayton.
Koloko didn’t make much of an impact last season, averaging just 2.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 37 games. But this summer, he showed signs of improvement and value during the NBA 2K26 Summer League in Las Vegas.
Although the Lakers ended the Summer League with a disappointing 1-4 record, Koloko stood out with his effort on both ends of the floor. His best performance came against the Boston Celtics, where he posted 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 blocks. Over five games, he averaged 7.2 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in just over 17 minutes per game, while shooting 57.7% from the field.
Koloko, a former Toronto Raptors player and Arizona product, is known for his rim protection and energy in the paint. While he’s unlikely to see major minutes with Ayton and Jaxson Hayes ahead of him on the depth chart, his two-way deal allows him to appear in up to 50 NBA games, making him a useful option for spot minutes during the regular season.
With a full training camp ahead, Koloko will look to build on his Summer League momentum and prove he can offer reliable frontcourt depth for a Lakers team hoping to make a deeper playoff run in 2026.
