The Las Vegas Raiders opened their 2025 training camp on Wednesday, and fans were surprised to see some unexpected names lining up with the starting offense. During the team’s first 11-on-11 session, wide receivers Dont’e Thornton, Tre Tucker, and Jakobi Meyers were running with the first-team offence.
This early pecking order came as a surprise because many expected Jack Bech, the Raiders’ second-round draft pick, to be one of the starters. Instead, Bech was working with the second team, at least for now.
Thornton, a fourth-round rookie, and Tucker, now in his third year, are both known for their speed and ability to stretch the field. Pairing them with Meyers, who is the team’s most proven receiver, and star tight end Brock Bowers gives the Raiders a lot of potential to create big plays down the field.
While it’s only the first day of camp and depth charts can shift quickly, it’s clear that the coaching staff is open to experimenting with different combinations. There’s still plenty of time before the Raiders’ season opener against the New England Patriots, but Thornton and Tucker are making a strong early case to be part of that starting lineup.
