The Outer Worlds 2, the sequel to Obsidian’s popular sci-fi RPG, is coming out on October 29. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Preorders are open now, and players can choose between the standard version and a special Premium Edition.
The game brings players back to the futuristic, satirical world of The Outer Worlds. It features new planets to explore, new characters to meet, and new factions to join. It keeps the same retro-futuristic art style and dark humour that made the first game stand out.
The Outer Worlds 2 pricing
The standard edition of The Outer Worlds 2 is priced at $70. It was originally going to cost $80, but Microsoft changed the price back to $70 on July 23. Anyone who preordered at the higher price will only be charged $70 in the end.
Xbox and PC players with Game Pass can play the game at no extra cost on launch day. A Game Pass subscription is $20 per month. However, you only get access to the game while you’re subscribed. To own it permanently, you’ll need to buy either the standard or Premium Edition.
Preordering any version of the game gives players Commander Zane’s Anti-Monopolistic Battle Pack. This includes Zane’s armour, weapons, and a pet drone, all available when the game launches.
The Premium Edition costs $100 and comes with extra content. It includes early access to the game starting October 24, two post-launch story DLCs, a special pack of in-game items, a digital artbook, and the soundtrack. This edition may drop to $90, but the final price hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Physical copies for PS5 can be preordered from Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy. For Xbox players, physical preorders are also available, but the box only contains a digital code, not a disc.
Fans of the series can also look forward to The Art of the Outer Worlds 2. This is a 208-page art book coming out on December 16. It shows concept art, design ideas, and behind-the-scenes stories from the game’s development. It’s available for preorder now at Amazon for $54.59.
