Manchester United and Juventus are in early talks over a potential multi-player exchange that could see Rasmus Hojlund return to Italy just two years after his high-profile move to the Premier League.

Hojlund, who joined United from Atalanta for £72 million ($95 million) in the summer of 2023, has now become central to discussions between the two clubs as both seek to reshape their squads ahead of the new season.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, officials from both clubs have quietly reopened dialogue, with Hojlund’s move to Turin emerging as the possible focal point of a larger swap deal.

The Danish striker’s time at Old Trafford has been mixed. Despite a promising start, he has struggled to consistently deliver, scoring just 26 goals in 95 appearances. The Premier League’s intensity and pace have proved challenging, and both player and club are now evaluating whether a change of scenery might be the right step forward.

As part of the potential exchange, Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz has emerged as a possible arrival at United. Although Luiz isn’t currently at the top of United’s transfer wishlist, the club has continued to monitor his situation, indicating genuine interest in the former Aston Villa player.

Initial talks between the two clubs began during discussions over Jadon Sancho but have since broadened to include other players. One of the names put forward by Juventus is Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic, who could be used to offset Hojlund’s departure. Vlahovic, with his proven Serie A record, is viewed by United as a possible solution to their ongoing attacking struggles.

For Juventus, the deal could help address ongoing concerns around their wage structure. The Turin-based club is actively trying to reduce salaries while staying competitive in both domestic and European competitions.

For United, such a move could provide a fresh start while limiting financial losses on Hojlund and acquiring players better suited to their evolving playing style under Erik ten Hag.

While no final agreement has been reached, the discussions remain active and are expected to continue in the coming weeks.
