Kyrie Irving has been with the Dallas Mavericks for over two years now, but talk of his controversial time in Brooklyn continues to follow him.

While recovering from a torn ACL this offseason, Irving has taken to streaming more often, discussing everything from life to basketball. But now, fans are waiting for a specific topic: his former teammate Kevin Durant’s recent comments.

Durant recently appeared on Mind the Game, a podcast hosted by LeBron James and Steve Nash. In it, Durant opened up about his frustrations during his time with the Brooklyn Nets, where Nash coached and Irving was one of his key teammates. Durant emphasised how tough things were off the court, despite being aligned with Nash. While he didn’t name Kyrie directly, it’s not hard to connect the dots.

Irving, never one to back down, quote-posted a clip of Durant’s comments and wrote:

“lol I am gonna address this on my stream soon.”

It’s clear Kyrie has something to say about how that Brooklyn chapter is being remembered.

Irving’s stint with the Nets was marked by both electrifying basketball performances and off-court drama, including a vaccine controversy and a suspension related to a controversial social media post. Despite that, he and Durant were one of the league’s most dangerous duos when healthy.

Now, both are suiting up in the Western Conference, Irving in Dallas and Durant in Houston. Depending on what Kyrie shares in his stream, this could add some real spice to their matchups next season.
