BLACKPINK’s Rosé has added another incredible achievement to her resume with her hit single “APT.” Spending 34 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, she now holds the record for the longest-charting K-pop song in the chart’s history. This milestone comes more than eight months after the song’s October 18, 2024, release and despite the crowded field of global artists.
What makes Rosé’s success even more remarkable is that “APT.” features Bruno Mars, an Oscar-winning superstar, and comes from her debut solo album, rosie. Few artists break into the Billboard Hot 100 for such an extended run, especially with a first solo project. Yet Rosé has managed to keep listeners hooked for over half a year.
Before Rosé, the record for the longest-charting K-pop song was held by BTS’s Jimin for his single “Who,” which spent 33 weeks on the Hot 100. Jimin’s song explored the search for true love and resonated deeply with fans, but Rosé has now eclipsed that feat. Other K-pop hits like BTS’s “Dynamite” (32 weeks) and PSY’s “Gangnam Style” (31 weeks) also had impressive runs, but none have outlasted “APT.” so far.
Rosé was also the first female K-pop soloist to stay on the Hot 100 for 26 weeks, surpassing Fifty Fifty’s mark of 25 weeks. Her trailblazing streak didn’t stop there. She became the first K-pop artist to reach number one on the Apple Music Top 100 Global chart, a feat recognized by Guinness World Records. On American radio, “APT.” climbed higher than any previous K-pop act on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart, showing that Rosé’s reach goes far beyond streaming platforms.
Even months after its release, “APT.” continues to make waves worldwide. With this latest record, Rosé has firmly established herself as a global music powerhouse, setting a new bar for K-pop soloists and proving the lasting appeal of her music.
