Minecraft is rolling out a major new update on June 17 called Chase the Skies, along with a visual upgrade named Vibrant Visuals, both of which will be available for players using the Bedrock version of the game.
Fans have been asking for better graphics in Minecraft for years, and this update finally delivers on that front, at least for Bedrock users. Vibrant Visuals isn’t just about sharper images. It changes how lighting behaves in the game, letting sunlight shine naturally through trees and reflect on water. Each biome (the game’s different environments like forests, deserts, etc.) will now have a more unique look and feel. Even the hostile creatures, like spiders, will appear more menacing, especially with glowing eyes in the dark. However, it’s important to note this is a purely cosmetic upgrade. It doesn’t change how the game works or how you play it, it just makes everything look better.
Unfortunately, Java Edition players won’t get the Vibrant Visuals update yet. But they will still be able to enjoy all the new gameplay features included in the Chase the Skies update.
One of the most welcomed changes is the ability to craft saddles. Previously, players had to find them in treasure chests hidden in places like temples and mineshafts, which could take a long time. Now, players can make their own, making it easier to ride horses and other creatures earlier in the game.
But the biggest highlight is the addition of the Happy Ghast. Ghasts are usually terrifying creatures from the Nether that shoot fireballs. However, in this update, players can discover a new form of ghast, dehydrated and harmless, which can be rehydrated in the Overworld and turned into a rideable flying companion. Yes, flying transport is now possible in Minecraft.
Other quality-of-life improvements are also part of the update. For instance, leads (used to guide animals) are easier to craft, and players can now connect multiple creatures together. This makes it possible to move around with an entire group of animals, similar to how wandering traders walk with llamas.
Overall, the June 17 update makes Minecraft not only better-looking but also more fun and convenient to play.
