Virgin Island: The first season of Virgin Island is about 12 adults who have never had sex before. These people go to a beautiful and fancy place near the Mediterranean Sea. There, they take part in a special program that helps them learn about closeness, love, and how to feel more comfortable with sex.
A team of sex experts (called sexologists) works with them. These experts guide the group through different activities and lessons. Their goal is to help the adults understand their fears and slowly get over the things that make them feel nervous or unsure about sex and relationships. It’s like a gentle class on how to feel okay with being close to someone.
Ian Katz, who is the main person in charge of shows at Channel 4, said that Virgin Island is a show that only Channel 4 would make. He said it talks about an important topic that people don’t often speak openly about, but it does so in a kind, thoughtful, and funny way.
He also said they’re really happy that young people liked the show, and that the people who were part of it had a positive and helpful experience.
Is Virgin Island renewed for a second season?
Virgin Island, Channel 4’s bold and talked-about reality show, is coming back for a second season and has been renewed! The show became super popular and got amazing viewing numbers, especially with people aged 16 to 34.
The very first episode of season 1 became Channel 4’s most-watched show for young viewers in 2025. It even got more views than big, well-known shows like Taskmaster, Married at First Sight Australia, and Gogglebox.
In fact, the entire first season of Virgin Island is the most-streamed show of the year on Channel 4.
The show’s main idea is to follow 12 adults who have never had sex. They go on a trip to a beautiful luxury island where a team of sex experts helps them understand and explore intimacy in a safe, supportive way.
Ian Katz, the head of Channel 4’s content, said that Virgin Island is the kind of show only Channel 4 would dare to make. He explained that it talks about a topic most people don’t usually discuss, virginity and intimacy, and it does so in a warm, respectful, and even funny way.
He also said they’re really happy that young people loved the show and that the participants found it really helpful.
The person in charge of creating the show, Jonah Weston, said that season 2 will be even bigger and braver than the first one.
One of the participants from season 1, Dave, said that being on the island was an amazing experience for him. He said he’s very thankful and excited to see the next group go through the same life-changing journey. He added that if someone feels strong and brave enough, they should totally apply, because the experience changed his life completely.
Since its release, Virgin Island has broken records and become the most successful reality show launch for young viewers in recent years — even beating other big shows like The Jury: Murder Trial and Late Night Lycett.
