Skai Jackson, best known for her work on the Disney Channel, has filed for a restraining order against the father of her child, Deondre Burgin, after what she describes as a terrifying and violent attack on Mother’s Day. According to court documents filed in Los Angeles, Skai says Burgin assaulted her while she was holding their 3-month-old son, Kasai. She claims he yanked her by the hair, slammed her head into a car window, and punched her in the face.

This incident wasn’t the first, according to Skai. She described a disturbing pattern of abuse that she says took place regularly over six months in 2024. In her statement to the court, she said Burgin would choke her, scratch her, smash her head against walls, and break her belongings—including her phone and television.

Even while she was pregnant, Skai says things were terrifying. She claims Burgin once held her at knifepoint and told her to drink bleach to harm the baby. In another chilling threat, he allegedly warned he would stab her in the stomach if she tried to get help.

One of the alleged assaults, according to Skai, was even caught on video. In it, she says Burgin is seen punching through a locked bathroom door, then grabbing her, slamming her into a wall, and choking her until she couldn’t breathe.

After detailing all this, Skai asked the court for a temporary restraining order—and it was granted. Burgin must now stay at least 100 yards away from her, their baby Kasai, and even her dog. She’s also requesting the court order him to attend a domestic violence program, pay child support, and cover her legal costs.

There’s more to Burgin’s history, too. According to TMZ, he was already serving a 90-day jail sentence for a parole violation when Kasai was born in January 2025. He was arrested again in April due to an outstanding warrant. Skai also says he owns three guns, including a rifle, and that she fears for both her safety and her child’s.

A source close to Skai told PEOPLE magazine, “Her number one priority is keeping her family safe. Filing for this restraining order wasn’t easy, but it was absolutely necessary.”

Back in January, Skai gave fans a small glimpse into her life as a new mom by sharing a photo of her baby’s hands on Instagram. The next month, she appeared at the NAACP Image Awards Creative Honors and opened up briefly about motherhood, saying, “I love being a new mom. It’s just so exciting.” She added with quiet strength, “I can just handle whatever at this point.”
