Fans hoping for more Bridgerton romance will have to wait a little longer—Netflix announced that Season 4 will arrive in 2026, though no exact date has been set yet. Along with this news on May 14, Netflix gave a first look at the new leading couple: Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, and Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha.

The preview shows Benedict wearing a mask at a ball, locking eyes with Sophie, a mysterious woman dressed in silver who is seen admiring a chandelier.

Season 4 will follow Benedict’s love story, based on Julia Quinn’s book An Offer from a Gentleman. The story centers on Benedict falling for Sophie Baek, a maid with big dreams and a hidden past. Netflix described Sophie as resourceful and full of secrets and ambition.

Luke Thompson told Netflix’s Tudum that the story is a kind of “Cinderella” twist, and he’s excited to bring that into the Bridgerton world.

Thompson was officially announced as the Season 4 lead in July 2024. In Season 3, Benedict ended a casual relationship and expressed his desire to explore more of life. Thompson explained to USA TODAY that Benedict has always been obsessed with freedom, but now he’s at a point where he has to make a choice and commit.

Filming likely started in London, though Netflix hasn’t confirmed if it’s finished. Showrunner Jess Brownell told The Hollywood Reporter that the show follows a two-year production cycle because of filming, editing, dubbing, and writing, so it takes time to complete each season.

Netflix has also approved Seasons 5 and 6, promising that the Bridgerton family will continue to appear. Executive producer Shonda Rhimes said the plan is to adapt all eight books in the Bridgerton series.
