In ‘The Pointless 99 Times,’ a group of beer vendors is gathered for a vocal warm-up session, but most of them think it’s a waste of time. Ruriko is no exception—until she’s out on the job and realizes she’s instinctively using every phrase they practiced. That moment makes her appreciate Manager Matsudo’s earlier words about how persistence through repeated failure eventually pays off.
Meanwhile, in the team clubhouse, Ichinomiya starts feeling like he’s stuck in Shishio’s shadow. He gets a bit of comfort from Marie, the team cook, but their quiet moment is unintentionally ruined when Shishio walks in. On the other side of things, Ruriko and Murata get a chance to bond while reminiscing about their high school days. There’s also a fun twist when it’s revealed that Yamada was featured in Weekly Baseball—except her name was spelled wrong in the magazine.
Episode 8 will take place at the open-air MotorSuns Stadium, which is notorious for sudden gusts of strong wind that can mess with both the players and the vendors. Ruriko and Murata get caught in one of these gusts while they’re up in the stands, setting the tone for what’s to come.
The episode includes two storylines. In ‘Marker,’ Ruriko goes to a game just for fun with Kokoro and Aona. Since she’s not wearing her usual vendor gear, nobody recognizes her—until she crosses paths with Murata. In ‘Watch Out for Online News,’ a suspicious journalist named Iijima sneaks into the staff area. Aona agrees to talk to him, not realizing he’s only interested in twisting her story into something juicy and profitable.
