Margaret Qualley teams up once again with acclaimed filmmaker Ethan Coen for Honey Don’t!, a dark comedy from Focus Features also starring Aubrey Plaza and Chris Evans. This marks their second collaboration after the critically praised Drive-Away Dolls.
The newly released trailer teases a mix of mystery, sharp humor, and violence. Qualley stars as Honey O’Donahue, a small-town private investigator on the trail of strange deaths linked to a cult led by the enigmatic Priest Drew.
The trailer opens with Priest Drew declaring, “Submission, there is no higher service,” before cutting to Honey at the Bakersfield Police station. There, she meets MJ (Plaza), who provides a key address while admiring Honey’s signature click-clacking heels.
Honey investigates the crash scene of Mia Novotny, discovering a cult-related ring that deepens the mystery. Priest Drew’s dark, unpriestly side is revealed during an interrupted intimate moment, adding complexity to the narrative.
Honey’s probe into Novotny’s death is personal—she promised to assist the victim with matters the police won’t touch. As Honey digs deeper, she encounters chilling discoveries that make her question Priest Drew’s true nature. A witty but inconclusive exchange between Honey and Drew hints at the film’s blend of suspense and comedy.
Alongside Qualley, Plaza, and Evans, the cast includes Charlie Day, Billy Eichner, Kristen Connolly, and more.
Honey Don’t! will have its world premiere in the Midnight Screenings section of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and will hit U.S. theaters on August 22.
