It’s no surprise anymore—those classic X-Men characters from the old Fox movies are officially teaming up with the heroes already rocking the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). And guess what? They’re all set to appear together in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday!
Alan Cumming, who fans might remember as Nightcrawler from the earlier X-Men films, recently spilled some behind-the-scenes tea about the fight scenes in the new movie.
In a chat with BuzzFeed UK, the Spy Kids actor revealed that he’s about to throw down with a big new Marvel character we haven’t met on screen yet: Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards—better known as Mr. Fantastic from the Fantastic Four!
Alan admitted that it feels pretty funny to him—he played a superhero years ago, and now he’s jumping back into the superhero game. He joked about learning the fight choreography, saying things like, “Wait, who am I supposed to be fighting?” Then the crew would tell him, “You’re hitting Pedro Pascal on the head.”
Calling it “the game of life,” Alan said he can hardly believe all this is really happening—a nice reminder that sometimes even stars are just as amazed by these blockbuster moments as we are.
Just in case you missed it, Pedro Pascal is making his Marvel Studios debut on July 25, 2025, in the new Fantastic Four movie. He’ll be joined by Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing).
Back to Avengers: Doomsday—this will be the first official Avengers movie since the epic Endgame in 2019. Alongside Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler, some other fan-favorite mutants from the Fox days are returning too, like Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and James Marsden as Cyclops.
And there are exciting new faces joining the mutant crew: Channing Tatum as Gambit and Tenoch Huerta as Namor, adding fresh energy to this superhero-packed adventure.
In short, MCU fans are in for a wild, nostalgic, and action-packed ride as the worlds of the old X-Men and new Marvel heroes collide!
