According to sources close to the royal family, William is done trying to fix things with his younger brother. He’s not angry, he’s just… over it. In fact, insiders say the Prince of Wales has emotionally distanced himself so much that even mentioning Harry around him is pretty much a no-go.
“He just doesn’t talk about Harry anymore,” a royal insider revealed to Us Weekly. “It’s kind of an unspoken rule—no one brings it up, and William certainly doesn’t.” So when Harry recently did a tell-all interview with BBC News, William didn’t react, didn’t comment, didn’t even acknowledge it privately.
The interview in question aired on May 2, and in it, Prince Harry claimed that his father, King Charles, refuses to speak with him. He also pointed fingers at the royal institution for sabotaging his efforts to get government-funded security for himself, Meghan, and their kids while in the UK. Naturally, the comments stirred up headlines and renewed public scrutiny.
But for William? Silence.
“William is done with Harry,” the insider added bluntly. “People believe that once William becomes King, the rift between them will only get worse.”
The brothers’ falling-out isn’t exactly breaking news—it goes back years. Their relationship really took a hit after Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties in 2020. And things only got worse with Harry’s 2023 memoir Spare, which aired a lot of private family drama.
Still, during his recent BBC appearance, Harry insisted he wants peace with his father. He even added a somber note: “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
To many, that sounded like a heartfelt olive branch. But royal expert Christopher Andersen sees it differently. He believes Harry’s comments, especially about his father’s health (King Charles was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year), may have backfired. “If Harry really wants to reconcile,” Andersen said, “this is a strange way to show it.”
And let’s not forget—this interview came right after Harry lost a legal appeal to restore his UK security. In court, he even accused the Palace of interfering in the case and ignoring his family’s safety.
So, where do things stand now? Sadly, according to those in the know, not great.
Andersen summed it up: “Harry may say he wants to bury the hatchet, but he did it while twisting the knife.”
As for Prince William? He’s keeping his distance, staying silent, and focusing on his royal duties. Whether time can heal this royal rift is anyone’s guess—but for now, the once-close brothers appear to be living in completely separate worlds.
