Brian Austin Green is getting real about one of the toughest chapters of his life—his divorce from actress Megan Fox. In a deeply personal moment on the May 5 episode of the Oldish podcast, the Beverly Hills, 90210 star opened up about the emotional toll the split took on him after their decade-long marriage ended in 2021.
Reflecting on their relationship, Green, now 51, said Megan was like a light at the end of a dark tunnel when they first got together. “She was a breath of fresh air coming out of what felt like Vietnam to me,” he shared. “She made me laugh again. She made life feel good.”
The couple had been together for nearly 15 years and shared three sons—Noah (12), Bodhi (11), and Journey (8). Green also has a 21-year-old son, Kassius, from a previous relationship with Vanessa Marcil, and a 2-year-old son, Zane, with his current fiancée, Sharna Burgess.
When Megan asked for a divorce in 2020, Green admitted he was completely blindsided. “I was devastated,” he said, honestly. “We’d already been through so much. I thought we were solid. I really believed we had something that would last. And I think she did too—at least back then.”
He acknowledged that Megan, who started dating him at just 18, may have begun feeling trapped or like she’d missed out on the freedom and exploration that often comes with your twenties. “I got it, I understood where she was coming from,” he said. “But that didn’t make it any easier. It hurt—badly. It killed me. It felt like it came out of nowhere.”
To make things even harder, Megan moved on fairly quickly with musician Machine Gun Kelly (MGK). Green admitted that seeing them together wasn’t easy. In fact, he even felt jealous at times watching their relationship unfold so publicly.
Since then, life has continued to evolve. Fox and MGK welcomed a baby girl together (MGK also has a teenage daughter, Casie, from a past relationship). The two reportedly got married in January 2022, but their whirlwind romance hit a rough patch, and they separated in November 2024, shortly after announcing the pregnancy.
Today, both Megan and MGK are said to be focusing on co-parenting their daughter. Meanwhile, Green is finding stability and joy again with Sharna Burgess and their growing blended family.
