The Fear Street series is growing with a new movie coming soon, based on R.L. Stine’s fourth novel in the franchise. Netflix has just released the first trailer for this scary film, which takes place at Shadyside High during prom season — but things quickly turn deadly. The movie is directed by Matt Palmer and is set in the year 1988.
The trailer starts with footage from a video camera showing the students getting ready for prom. Everyone seems excited and talks about the big event in class. But then, Meghan Rogers pulls a terrifying prank on her classmates that sets a dark tone.
As the trailer continues, one girl finds herself being chased down a school hallway by a mysterious masked figure. This stranger, wearing a red hood and mask, carries an old yearbook that shows photos of prom queens from past years.
Soon, Lori Granger, played by India Fowler, notices that some students have gone missing from the prom. Worried, she asks the chilling question, “Where are all the prom queens?”
The movie features a talented cast, including India Fowler alongside Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, Ariana Greenblatt, Chris Klein, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston.
According to the official summary, prom season at Shadyside High is in full swing, with the popular “It Girls” fighting hard to win the prom queen title. But when a brave newcomer joins the competition and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of 1988 faces a terrifying night they won’t forget.
This new movie, Fear Street: Prom Queen, is the next chapter after the Fear Street trilogy, which included Fear Street Part One: 1994, Part Two: 1978, and Part Three: 1666.
Fans can watch Fear Street: Prom Queen when it premieres on Netflix on May 23.
