Selena Gomez looked stunning at a Disney event in New York City, just hours after news broke that challenged claims about her being a billionaire and revealed money troubles at her mental health company, Wondermind.
The 32-year-old actress and businesswoman walked the red carpet at Disney’s 2025 Upfronts held at the Javits Center, wearing a classy black gown with a high slit. With her hair slicked back and black heels to match, Selena looked calm, confident, and totally unbothered as she smiled alongside her Only Murders in the Building co-stars, Martin Short and Steve Martin.
Earlier in the day, Forbes released a report that set the record straight about Selena’s finances. While a previous estimate had put her net worth at $1.3 billion, Forbes now believes she’s actually worth closer to $700 million, still incredibly wealthy, but not quite in billionaire territory. The same report also revealed that Wondermind, the mental wellness company Selena co-founded in 2021 with her mom Mandy Teefey and entrepreneur Daniella Pierson, has been facing serious financial issues.
According to sources, Wondermind has missed payments to staff and freelancers, had to let people go, and owes tens of thousands of dollars. Things got so tough that Selena’s mom reportedly took out a loan against her house to help keep the business going, and Selena herself has poured millions into the company. Despite her big investment, Selena isn’t involved in running the day-to-day operations.
A spokesperson for Wondermind acknowledged the company had gone through some rough patches, calling them “growing pains,” but claimed those problems have now been resolved and the company is moving forward with a fresh start.
Through it all, Selena continues to shine in public. While her startup faces challenges behind the scenes, she’s keeping her focus on her acting and beauty ventures. Only Murders in the Building remains a hit, her beauty brand Rare Beauty is doing great, and no matter what the headlines say, Selena shows no signs of slowing down.
