The first season of Ahsoka ended with fans eagerly anticipating what’s next for the series. And when the creators came forward recently, they didn’t hold back on making some major announcements. It seems the show is just getting started, and there’s a lot more in store.
At the Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, the creator of Ahsoka shared some huge news about the future of the show. One of the biggest updates is that Ahsoka season 2 is officially set to start production next week. But what really caught everyone’s attention was the announcement that Hayden Christensen will be returning to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker. This makes perfect sense because Anakin was Ahsoka’s Jedi Master, and they have a complex and deep relationship.
Another surprising reveal was that Rory McCann, known for his role in Game of Thrones, will be joining the Star Wars universe in season 2. He’ll play the role of Baylan Skoll, an evil Jedi, which is especially notable since this role was originally meant for Ray Stevenson, who sadly passed away in May 2023, before season one even aired.
In more exciting news for Star Wars fans, Admiral Ackbar will also make an appearance in season 2. The show creator mentioned that Ackbar will be facing off against Thrawn, one of the franchise’s most iconic villains. He even joked about the famous line “It’s a trap!” that fans often associate with Ackbar, saying he almost wrote it in, but decided it would be too cheesy for the moment. Instead, he acknowledged that Ackbar, a seasoned military strategist, would hopefully see the traps coming this time around.
As a bit of background, Ray Stevenson’s passing left a hole in the cast, especially since he played a key antagonist in Ahsoka’s story. But despite the loss, the show is moving forward with new talent like Rory McCann. Interestingly, McCann and Rosario Dawson, who plays Ahsoka, actually worked together over 20 years ago in Oliver Stone’s Alexander, making their upcoming collaboration in Ahsoka even more exciting.
It’s clear that season 2 of Ahsoka will be packed with new twists, turns, and familiar faces. Fans have a lot to look forward to, and with the production kicking off soon, it won’t be long before we get to see how these new developments unfold.
