Paul Wesley opened up about the hectic and demanding schedule he had while filming The Vampire Diaries, recalling the long hours and high stress that came with it. In a conversation with People magazine, the actor shared that during his 20s, he felt constantly overworked and under pressure.
Wesley was just 26 when he landed the role on the popular teen drama, and as the show gained more and more attention, he found himself dedicating more time and energy to his work. He admitted that he took his role so seriously at the time that he completely ignored his health.
Looking back, the Vampire Diaries star credited his good genes for keeping him in good shape despite all the stress, but eventually, the toll of long hours, lack of sleep, and constant pressure started to catch up with him. “As I got older, I was overwhelmed with work, late nights, and stress,” he recalled.
By the time he hit his early 30s, Wesley faced a major health setback: a complete adrenal shutdown. He started experiencing irregular sleep, low energy, and brain fog, which made him realize that he needed to rethink his approach to life and health.
Eager to make a change, Wesley began exploring more holistic approaches to health. In his 40s, he became serious about preventative care, learning that staying healthy isn’t just about fixing issues as they arise but about taking care of your body before problems start. This includes things like taking the right supplements, eating well, staying active, and even practicing mindfulness through meditation.
His growing interest in proactive health led him to become involved with companies that emphasize these practices. He’s now a brand ambassador for Hone Health, an online health clinic that provides personalized medication, supplements, and lifestyle guidance.
Wesley shared that for the past five or six years, he has embraced a healthier lifestyle, focusing on a holistic approach to well-being. He believes that Hone Health’s methods resonated with him because they encouraged a more thorough understanding of his health, rather than just relying on traditional Western medicine to fix problems. “We never really look under the hood to see what’s going on,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of digging deeper into one’s health rather than just addressing symptoms.
