Aimee Lou Wood recently received an apology from Saturday Night Live after speaking out about a sketch that parodied her character from The White Lotus. In the sketch, titled The White POTUS, SNL made fun of the upcoming season of the show by poking fun at the Trump family and, more specifically, at Wood’s character. The sketch exaggerated her appearance, particularly mocking her teeth, which Wood has been open about feeling sensitive toward.
Wood took to Instagram to voice her disappointment, calling the sketch “mean and unfunny” and criticizing its lack of accuracy, especially in the portrayal of her accent. She expressed that while she understood the nature of satire on SNL, she felt the joke went too far. She also highlighted that HBO had been supportive, but SNL had crossed a line.
Her post received an outpouring of support from fans, with many applauding her for speaking out rather than keeping her feelings bottled up. In a follow-up, Wood confirmed that SNL had reached out to apologize, and she shared the news with a cheeky Instagram story, signaling that the controversy was, at least for now, put to rest.
