Fauda is turning up the heat in Season 5 by bringing on board the incredibly talented French actress Mélanie Laurent, as confirmed by Deadline. Best known for her standout roles in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and Now You See Me, Laurent’s casting has already raised expectations among long-time fans of the intense Israeli action-thriller.

She’s set to appear in seven out of the nine episodes of the new season—though, for now, producers are keeping her character’s identity and role a secret. This only adds to the growing anticipation around how she’ll be woven into the show’s high-stakes storyline.

This isn’t her first time working with Lior Raz, the series’ lead actor and co-creator. The two previously teamed up in Operation Finale and 6 Underground, so their on-screen chemistry is already tried and tested.

Laurent, a César Award winner, brings an impressive resume to the series, which includes projects like Wingwomen, The Mad Woman’s Ball, Enemy, and Murder Mystery 2. She’s also expected to star in the Apple TV+ series À l’ombre des forêts.

For those new to Fauda, the show is inspired by the real-life experiences of Raz and co-creator Avi Issacharoff, focusing on an elite unit of Israeli operatives who go undercover to hunt down terrorists. The gritty and realistic tone has earned it a strong global following.

Season 5 will be directed by Omri Givon (who also led Season 4), with scripts written by Omri Shenhar. The production is being overseen by Yes TV and L. Benasuly Productions, with international rights handled by Yes Studios.
