The production of Scream 7 has taken a dramatic turn, with director Christopher Landon making some startling revelations about the events that led to his departure from the film. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Landon opened up about the threats and harassment he faced following the controversial firing of actress Melissa Barrera, which was linked to her social media posts about the Israel-Palestine conflict.

According to Landon, after Barrera was let go from her role, he began receiving violent threats, including messages stating, “I’m going to find your kids, and I’m going to kill them because you support child murder.” The threats were so intense that they prompted an investigation by studio security and even the FBI. Landon described the experience as “highly aggressive and really scary,” adding that the entire situation quickly escalated into a nightmare.

In addition to Barrera’s firing, Jenna Ortega’s exit from the film was soon after announced, which added further controversy to the production. Landon, who had been associated with the film as its director, was blamed by some fans for the firing of Barrera, despite being part of a much larger studio system where decisions are made at a higher level. Landon reflected on the situation, stating that it was a result of people not fully understanding how Hollywood works and the roles different individuals play in decision-making processes. He described his experience as “a dream job that turned into a nightmare.”

As the film moves forward, Scream 7 will now be directed by Kevin Williamson, the original screenwriter of the Scream franchise, with franchise veteran Neve Campbell set to return. While the production has faced significant challenges, it seems that the direction of the film is now in the hands of a familiar face to fans of the series.
