Hailee Steinfeld may have gotten engaged to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen last fall, but wedding plans are on hold for now as she focuses on her career. In a recent interview with Extra during the press junket for her upcoming film Sinners, Steinfeld shared that wedding bells aren’t on the horizon yet because she’s in the midst of a busy promotional tour for the movie. “We are in the middle of a press tour. We’ve got a movie coming out in 12 days? Six, something? We’re focused on that,” she explained.
Steinfeld, who stars alongside Michael B. Jordan, Wunmi Mosaku, Delroy Lindo, and newcomer Miles Caton in Ryan Coogler’s eagerly awaited film, has been attending countless events and interviews non-stop.
The actress got engaged to Allen in November after dating for a year. Allen has called Steinfeld his “biggest supporter” throughout his NFL season, and the couple even made their red carpet debut earlier this year at the NFL Honors.
In Sinners, Steinfeld plays Mary, a seductive biracial woman turned vampire in the 1930s South. Her role led her to delve into her own family history, particularly having conversations with her mother about her grandfather, who was half Black. “I learned a lot about myself through Mary, and even more about my family history,” she said.
Meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan plays twin brothers Smoke and Stack, marking his fifth collaboration with director Ryan Coogler. Jordan found the role challenging yet fun, especially working on the distinct mannerisms and personalities of the brothers.
Costar Wunmi Mosaku also emphasized that Sinners is more than just another vampire movie. “You’ll come out with thoughts, lessons, questions, and answers that have nothing to do with vampires… there’s a whole lot of heart,” she shared.
With Sinners hitting theaters on April 18, Steinfeld is clearly putting her focus on this passion project for now, leaving wedding planning on the back burner for a little while longer.
