The TV series Boiling Point, starring Stephen Graham, is set to leave Netflix in the U.S. in May 2025, just a year after its debut on the streaming platform in April 2024. The show is a follow-up to the 2021 film Boiling Point, which earned critical praise. However, despite its pedigree and the strong cast, the series didn’t manage to grab much attention from viewers.
The latest Netflix Engagement Report shows that the show only accumulated around 400,000 hours watched, which equals about 100,000 views during the first half of 2024. In the second half of the year, it didn’t even make it into the platform’s rankings, suggesting a significant drop in viewership.
Boiling Point is directed by Philip Barantini, who also directed Netflix’s 2025 hit Adolescence—another real-time drama filmed in a continuous take. The series picks up six months after the events of the original film, diving into the intense world of a London restaurant. This time, the focus shifts to Carly, a former sous-chef who is now running her own place. Along the way, the show explores the personal and professional struggles of Carly’s team.
In addition to Graham, the show features a talented cast, including Vinette Robinson, Hannah Walters, Izuka Hoyle, Áine Rose Daly, Daniel Larkai, and Gary Lamont. Despite the strong performances and critical acclaim, Boiling Point struggled to find a solid fanbase on Netflix.
Even though the show is leaving Netflix, fans can still catch it on other platforms like Prime Video, Tubi, and The Roku Channel. The original Boiling Point film is available on Peacock, but not on Prime Video.
For those who enjoyed the gripping, intense drama of Adolescence, Boiling Point could be a great watch before it leaves Netflix.
Looking ahead, Barantini and writer Jack Thorne are sticking with Netflix. Barantini is set to direct the next Enola Holmes movie, taking over from Harry Bradbeer. Filming for the movie is scheduled to start in April 2025, with a planned release in 2026. Thorne will return as the screenwriter, continuing his work on the Enola Holmes series.
