Sam Thompson has opened up about his feelings following the news of his ex, Zara McDermott, reportedly starting a new romance with Louis Tomlinson from One Direction. Despite the rumors circulating about Zara’s new relationship, Sam made it clear that he’s not yet ready to jump back into the dating scene.
Speaking on his podcast Staying Relevant, Sam reflected on how many people turn to new relationships for validation after a breakup, something he stressed he’s not doing. Instead, he’s focused on self-care and prioritizing family and home life. He explained, “A lot of people look for validation in other people, right? They seek someone else right away to fill the hole and find excitement.” However, Sam is taking a different approach, choosing to focus on the people already in his life and on personal well-being.
He described himself as a “homebody” who prefers staying in with his pets and family over going out. “I love home. I’m a real homebody. I love my cats, being around my family, and just being in my home. I barely ever go out,” he shared.
Since their breakup, Sam and Zara have wiped their shared past from the internet, even deleting their joint Instagram account where they posted about their home renovation projects. The last post on the account dates back to December. Despite this, Sam has stayed upbeat on social media, even sharing a fun Instagram video where he’s dressed as a Hufflepuff from Harry Potter.
On the other hand, Zara has been spotted with Louis Tomlinson on what seemed like a romantic getaway to Suffolk. The pair was photographed holding hands and sharing a cozy moment, sparking rumors of a romance. They were also seen dining together at a hotel in Aldeburgh, according to The Sun. A source revealed, “Louis whisked Zara away for a break in Suffolk, and he absolutely charmed her. It’s clear he thinks she’s drop-dead gorgeous too.” The insider further shared, “Louis is a proper gentleman, so this trip was something he planned and wanted to make special for Zara.”
While Zara seems to be moving on with Louis, Sam is focusing on healing, enjoying the quiet moments, and not rushing into anything new.
