Yerin Ha, who plays Sophie Baek in Bridgerton season 4, has shared an exciting update about the show’s production. The upcoming season, which fans are eagerly awaiting, will center on the romance between Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson) and Sophie (Ha). Sophie is a mysterious “lady in silver” who catches Benedict’s eye, despite his reluctance to get involved in the marriage scene.
In a chat with Women’s Wear Daily, Ha revealed that the production is progressing well. “We just finished block three and are moving into block four, so we’re nearing the final stretch of this long journey,” she said.
Ha also expressed how much she’s been enjoying the experience, saying it felt more like fun than work. “It’s been so nice,” she shared with enthusiasm.
Ha, who joined the show in August 2024, made history as Bridgerton‘s first East Asian lead. To honor her Korean background, the creators decided to tweak her character’s name from Beckett (as in the original book) to Baek, adding a personal touch to the role.
This season is based on An Offer from a Gentleman, the third book in the Bridgerton series by Shonda Rhimes, who also serves as an executive producer. According to Tudum, Sophie Baek is a maid with a hidden past, symbolized by a literal and figurative mask. Netflix recently teased the season with a sneak peek, showing the leads at a Bridgerton masquerade ball – a pivotal moment in their love story.
Although the exact release date for season 4 hasn’t been confirmed, showrunner Jess Brownell mentioned in July that the production follows a two-year cycle, meaning it will likely premiere around 2026. Brownell explained to The Hollywood Reporter that it takes about two years to finish both production and post-production. Though fans are eager for new episodes sooner, he emphasized that each Bridgerton episode is like producing a full feature film.
In the meantime, you can catch up on Bridgerton seasons 1-3 and Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, all streaming now on Netflix.
